William Porter, organist

A renowned recitalist and leader in improvisation, Porter again returns to Deerfield to honor retiring Deerfield Academy Headmaster, Eric Widmer, with an organ recital on Opus 13. Porter, holding degrees from Oberlin College and Yale University, presented the dedicatory recital on the Richards, Fowkes & Co. organ in 2004. He presently teaches organ and improvisation at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, and McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
